DAY THERAPY
Rossendale Hospice Drop In Service
Our 'Drop In' day takes place each Monday, 9.30-4.30 here at the Hospice. The service enables patients with a life limiting illness, their carers and families to access support. We have staff on site each Monday to provide nursing, social and emotional support.
If you feel you are struggling and need further support we have counselling and psychotherapy services available here at the Hospice for patients, family members and carers. You can refer yourself for these services however you will need an appointment.
We are also able to offer practical support via regular sessions provided by Help Direct on finance, housing, benefits and other issues.
The timetable for the 'Drop In' day will change from week to week but a typical day looks like this
9.30-10.30
Coffee and catch up- a chance to speak with the nurses or to meet up with friends.
10.30-11.30
Dietician support. You do not have to make an appointment for this session.
11.45-12.15
Exercise class, gentle exercise led by Michelle, a qualified instructor experienced in working with people with long term illnesses.
There will also be access to the Hospice social worker. These sessions will need to be booked.
The afternoon sessions will vary, please check our website or ring the Hospice for up to date information on what is available.
Solicitor support with will writing from Woodcock's, patrons of Rossendale Hospice.
Arts and crafts.
Mindfulness sessions, you will need to book this session.
Reading group.
Carer support.
'Knit and natter.'
Headscarf ideas post chemotherapy, this will need to be booked with one of the nurses.
Hair care and manicure. Booking is advisable.
Complementary therapies, carried out by experienced therapies. These sessions are limited to 6 and are available by appointment.
