She is
often seen shaking buckets, dragging shopping trolleys
from river beds to help create
a safer, greener and cleaner Valley.
Carolyn says: "I'm
completely shocked but absolutely delighted to win
Woman of the Year 2012, I really can't
believe it. I really enjoy helping others. Charities
could always do with volunteers and I would encourage
people
to help where they can."
Guests at this year's event were treated to a three-course
meal, musical entertainment, special prize raffles and
speech by guest Julie Green
Jones.
A fantastic £4,913 was raised for the hospice.
Fundraising Manager Sam Morris
says: "All of the finalists were very worthy winners,
but many congratulations to Carolyn, this was very
well deserved. It was a fabulous day, I'd like to thank
the 92 women who came to support us, to raise almost £5000
in one afternoon is truly remarkable.
Special thanks
go to the special events committee, our MC Roland Hailwood,
Julie Green Jones, Musbury
Fabrics for sponsoring the champagne reception, CFH
Design who sponsor all our design work and to all of
the local businesses who got involved to make the day
happen."
