The award will
be presented at the annual Ladies Luncheon, held at Nino’s
Restaurant on 3rd December
and this year’s winner was North
West Ambulance volunteer Dawn Taylor.
During
six years as a First Responder, Dawn trained more than
200 Rossendale
men and woman who, thanks to her, now have basic life support
skills. When she won her award last year, a spokeswoman
for the hospice said Dawn had raised in excess of £2,000
for local charities and had a major impact on the community.
Dawn said: “It was a wonderful
experience and a wonderful surprise to be recognised by
such a prestigious organisation. I will use the title ‘Rossendale
Woman of the Year’ to promote not only Rossendale
Community First Responders and the British Heart Foundation's
Heartstart UK initiative, but also the work of Rossendale
Hospice and other organisations which work so hard for
the people of Rossendale. “
Theevent, which raised more than £15,000,
was organised by the Special
Events Committee, a group of
ladies who also co-ordinate the hospice’s Annual Ball.
Chairwoman, Louise Pilliterri said: “We
often talk about how amazing and inspiring some people are
but rarely do anything about it. This award
gives them the chance to receive the recognition they so
richly deserve.”
